This presentation is about the 21st century skills, according to the OEF and how they can be incorporated into project based learning across the curriculum. The focus will be on how this integrated project approach to learning will benefit students by helping to prepare them for global success in the 21st century.

The 21st century Learning Institute has been developed by the Oracle Education Foundation (OEF), to offer teachers from Reception to Year 12, the opportunity for training in the integration of the 21st century skills into their teaching.

The OEF's global programs, ThinkQuest and Think.com, will be used to showcase exceptional project-learning examples and to help teachers produce projects that are innovative and interactive.

This presentation will introduce ThinkQuest and how it can be incorporated across the curriculum. There is a strong focus on project-based learning as ThinkQuest encourages students to work in teams to design and create unique, educational websites. Within these projects, students develop skills such as communication, team work, research, writing and project management skills.

An extensive overview will be presented that will outline all aspects of ThinkQuest, covering important sections such as coaching, various team roles and judging of ThinkQuest sites. There will also be examples of how ThinkQuest can be used in general classroom teaching through project learning and integration of curriculum areas. All websites that make it to the final phase of ThinkQuest are hosted in the ThinkQuest online library, which is a comprehensive collection of student websites and a valuable teaching and learning resource. Successful sites that have strong Australian representation will also be presented.

ThinkQuest also promotes international collaboration by connecting students and teachers globally. First – hand experience of successful international coaching and judging will be shared and there will be ample time for questions and responses.

Overall, this presentation will give you a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of ThinkQuest in a practical and engaging way.
