The CEGSA Leading Light award aims to recognise those within the South Australian Educational community who provide inspiration to others by their excellent practice in supporting the use of ICT to enhance and extend student learning.
At the end of each year the CEGSA committee selects the South Australian Computer Educator of the Year and the South Australian ICT Leader of the Year from the Leading Light nominations received throughout the year.
The South Australian awards winners are nominated for the corresponding Australian awards, decided by the Australian Council of Computers in Education (ACCE) board at the Annual General Meeting in February.
The winner of the Australian Computer Educator of the Year award is, in turn, nominated for the International Computer Educator Of the Year, decided by ISTE.

Deciding who is a Leading Light
The final decision on who is given CEGSA Leading Light status will be made by the CEGSA Committee on the recommendation of the Leading Light sub-committee
There is no limitation to the number of CEGSA individual members who can be awarded Leading Light status
CEGSA certificates of appreciation will be issued to each Leading Light.
The CEGSA Leading Light list will be developed annually, and the names of the previous year's Leading Lights will be available on the CEGSA website.
The CEGSA executive will be responsible for nominating eligible Leading Lights for ACCE Professional Status.
Computer Educator of the Year and Outstanding ICT Leader of the Year
- In December of each year, all nominees on the current CEGSA Leading Light list will be considered for these Awards, depending on their teaching status. All will be considered eligible, provided they have supplied the additional information requested by the CEGSA office. A short list of up to 5 nominees will be created and ranked.
- The classroom teacher ranked at the top of the short list will be named CEGSA Computer Educator of the Year for that year and the non-classroom teacher ranked at the top of the list will be named CEGSA ICT Leader of the Year. The names of those who made the short list will also be publicised.
- Those nominated for ACCE awards will be given the opportunity to augment their nomination with additional evidence according to ACCE criteria.
