Graham Wegner is the ICT Coordinator and Year Six classroom teacher at Lockleys North Primary School, Adelaide. Graham is also an avid writer using read/write tools where his blog Teaching Generation Z  has received two Edublogs Awards nominations for Best Teacher Blog 2006 and 2007. He also participates in numerous online communities and is a strong advocate for improved focus on digital literacies in education.

I believe that the only way teachers will survive and remain relevant in the exponentially changing world is be becoming what I term as "open educators" - open to share, open to reflection, open to discussion and open to connected professional learning. Teachers need to look beyond their classroom, their school, their system and make connections with others on a global basis in order to manage the increasing demands of our profession. And the tools to do exactly this have never been easier to use and leverage.

In my presentation I will demonstrate how I connect to my own Personal Learning Network around topics of interest and relevance to me, and how I constantly have a stream of ideas, information, feedback and resources from that enrich and influence my everyday practice. Online tools are important but the ability to identify their potential usefulness and to connect to those who will push my thinking and support my professional growth takes greater precedence.
