Abstract:
National priorities have adopted an expectation that school leaders in the 21st century build the capacity of school communities to incorporate contemporary learning theories and practices to include ICT. This expectation has offered a clear message about the value and use of ICT in meeting the National Goals of Schooling as well as the effective management of schooling.
The Le@rning Federation national initiative was initially aligned with generating system change by providing digital content to kick start changes in teacher practice. This initiative has is now more closely aligned with national initiatives in assessment and the Statements of Learning. Seamless access to quality assured digital content was considered a change agent designed to scaffold teachers to provide e-learning opportunities and new models of working and engaging with students.
This shift in strategic priorities to focus on people, content and infrastructure is working towards mainstreaming ICT initiatives and services to support curriculum reform.
