Professional Calendar Site Administration |
Created by Louise, Jenna and Tilly Voice threads can be personally accessed by anyone over the age of 13. For students that are under the age of 13, an account and permission is required from the parent or guardian.
For students wanting to search or view public media, registration is not required. However, to post or add commentary users must register their details. Registration of Ed.VoiceThread users ensures that students and other users who interact on a student's voicethread are accountable for what is being posted. Teachers are able to utilise this safety feature, to ensure only positive use occurs on anyones Ed.VoiceThread. To register Teachers add their students through the ‘online administration tool’. Following this, the students first and last name, along with any teacher, school and district information is collected. Only the student’s first name is shown, with the other information only being accessed by the administrator. This information however can be obtained by the teacher with parental consent. Accessibility to the voice thread tool requires adobe flash 7+ and an active broadband connection. It does not require any software to download, install or update. Additionally, the school must unblock the following URL addresses on their firewall
Fortunately access to the Ed. Voice Thread tool is at a very low cost. PLEASE NOTE HOWEVER THAT THE SUBSCRIPTION IS IN $US DOLLARS
SECURITY AND PRIVACY Whilst using the Ed.VoiceThread tool, every user is responsible for their password and may only use the tool for personal, non-commercial use. When content and material provided through the voice thread service is posted on an external third party website, each page must display the link back to the Voice Thread website. As the posting and commentary requires registration, all users are known and responsible for their content and behaviour. The user is able to specify whether they want their media or comments on voice thread to be accessible to the public, accessible to just a few or privately where the username and password is required. Users are able to delete individual media and comments.
