Tapping into online educational videos not only makes teaching easier but also makes learning more engaging and interactive. It is a way forward to a pragmatic approach to 21st Century Learning. There is a wealth of digitised resources in the video sharing websites which we, as teachers, can bring into the classroom with just a few clicks. But why download (or 'grab' the videos) and save them as offline files if these e-rich resources are readily available in the Internet?

Well, teachers who ardently believe in using technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning will agree with us that, downloading of video files will:

• save time (time delays if everyone try to download at the same time)
• minimise cost (cost involved in downloading by every student)
• overcome technical constraints (e.g. software incompatibility, filtering blocks of video sharing sites)
• easier access to 'child safe' resources (enable teachers to 'censor' access to inappropriate resources)
• ideal as resources for future reference

Below are a list of free video grabbing tools.  They are in fact websites which allow the insertion of an URL and will convert the video from a source such as Youtube into an offline file which you can then transport and watch anywhere.
