Moodle is a course management system (CMS) - a free, Open Source software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities.

You can download and use it on any computer you have handy (including webhosts), yet it can scale from a single-teacher site to a University with 200,000 students. moodle-download-resize.gif

EdNA Groups is based upon the Moodle open source learning management system. EdNA Groups provides free collaborative workspaces to support teaching, learning and research for all sectors of education and training.

Each Group receives a space in which you can choose from a range of tools to facilitate communication and collaboration. For example, you can set up web forums and live chats; share web-links, files and images; create web pages and wikis; poll or survey members, and add RSS newsfeeds from EdNA Online. Groups can be public (open to all) or private (invitation only).

The EdNA Groups service is available to organisations that are part of the education and training community, not-for-profit and non-commercial groups and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). School students are not eligible to use the service.

This page provides valuable links to both EdNA Groups and Oz Projects. Both of these are free to educators, well supported by EdNA and based on the open source Moodle tool. Moodle is an excellent tool that has been of great interest to many schools especially when used as a hybrid tool to support face to face teaching and online learning. What better way to learn and use Moodle than to use EdNA Groups and Oz Projects!

Your page with all of the icons at the top may be a bit confusing to new readers and they probably would like to know that EdNA Groups is often blocked in schools and that if you want to establish your own school Moodle, a server is required. Fortunately EdNA provides this hosting service free of charge. Whilst students can't use EdNA Groups, the EdNA team are very supportive of great ideas for collaborative projects which is the best way to use Moodle to communicate with others beyond the classroom. I know you have learnt a great deal from creating this page and the supporting presentation Smile

Hi Graeme and Gareth.  It was good to meet with you today and hear about the work you are doing at uni.  I just found this website of Moodle tutorials and thought it might be useful.
